Our Strongest Oxbridge Cohort at WCS

5 December 2025

Thirteen Year 13 students who are currently studying at Westminster City School's Sixth Form have been invited to interview at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. This is a great achievement for these students and all should be very proud.

This year, 19 students from Westminster City School applied to Oxbridge, and the thirteen interview invitations reflect both the ambition of our students. Interviews take place over the next two weeks, following a rigorous period of practice and support from staff and external partners.

Miss Clarke, Head of Chemistry and Oxbridge Co-ordinator at Westminster City School, said:

“I am incredibly proud of every student who applied for these prestigious and competitive universities. The time they spent on their written university applications, their attention to detail, their resilience towards preparing for admission tests, and their confidence with mock interviews is impeccable and a joy to work with.  We wish the thirteen interviewees the very best of luck.”

To help students prepare, Westminster City School arranged a full afternoon of mock interviews on Thursday 27 November, with panels made up of staff and external interviewers. Students have also been taking part in online practice interviews through the SSLP (Southwark Schools Learning Partnership) network. These sessions are designed to mirror the questions and pressure of a real Oxbridge interview, while giving students constructive feedback and suggestions for answering probing academic questions.

Giuliana, who hopes to study Land Economy, shared her reasons for applying:

“I chose the University of Cambridge because of the quality of teaching and the way the courses allow you to explore a subject in real depth. Land Economy is only offered at Cambridge, so it feels like the perfect fit.”

When discussing what an offer would mean, she added:

“If I were to secure an offer it would mean that I can attend my dream university where I can have intellectual conversations and knowledge on a subject that interests me the most, where I will be able to get support from world-renowned academics.”

Speaking about the support she has received from Westminster City School, Giuliana said:

“The mock interviews and guidance have made me feel much more confident going into the process. I know I’m as prepared as I can be.”

Prior to joining Westminster City School's Sixth Form, Giuliana attended Canary Wharf College Crossharbour for secondary school.

Ronni, who has applied to study Theology at Cambridge, described the preparation process and what an offer would mean. She said:

“I submitted two marked work which included one essay on self, death and the afterlife, and another on the ontological argument. My teachers helped me choose the right pieces and even shared their own university notes with me. The mock interviews, including one with an Oxford student, were incredibly helpful and I felt that I learned a lot about different ways to approach the questions.”

“I’d be over the moon if I secured an offer at the University of Cambridge because I know how hard I’ve worked, so getting to this stage already feels like an achievement.”

Ronni hopes to become a barrister, completing a law conversion after her degree. She previously attended St Saviour’s and St Olave’s Church of England School where she completed her secondary school journey.

We wish all thirteen Oxbridge students every success in their interviews and look forward to sharing further news regarding their outcomes. Congratulations and well done!
