Exploring Ethics and Law: Year 10 Workshop with Young Citizens

5 December 2025

On Friday 5 December, Year 10 students at Westminster City School participated in an engaging 2 hour workshop on ‘Ethics, Law and Innovation’, delivered by Young Citizens in collaboration with volunteer lawyers from the renowned firm, Mishcon de Reya LLP.

The session urged students to consider the legal and ethical implications of the increasingly technological world that we live in. As part of the workshop, students debated a real-world scenario concerning the regulation of technological advancements, challenging them to balance innovation with responsibility.

Through the workshop, students were provided with an excellent opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills, deepen their knowledge and understanding of how our legal systems interact with our ever-changing society.

One Year 10 student reflected on the session saying:

"The session really got me thinking about topics which we don't usually consider in the classroom. I never really realised how ethics and law might overlap, or how one might fall behind the other."

The workshop highlighted how important it is to ensure that students are prepared to navigate complex legal and ethical issues in a world that is constantly changing.
