Ofsted Recognises the Strengths of Westminster City School

23 June 2026

Westminster City School was inspected by Ofsted on 19 and 20 May

We are delighted to share the latest Ofsted report for Westminster City School with our school community and the wider local community. Following our inspection in May 2026, this report reflects the many strengths of our school and highlights our collective success in securing ongoing excellence. The report recognises that a Westminster City School education provides a strong, stable and robust platform for all our current and future students. It shares the positive impressions that inspectors made during the inspection and sets out how ambitious we are for the school.

Ofsted’s new inspection framework, which is a more robust and rigorous approach, sets out judgements in seven areas. There is no overall judgement but the majority of our judgements were graded at the “strong standard”.

Key strengths identified by inspectors include:

  • Achievement was judged “strong” reflecting how our students achieve highly, above national averages and this has been sustained over a period of time;
  • Attendance and behaviour were judged to be “strong”. The report highlights the calm, orderly, and respectful environment across the school.  Clear routines are followed, there are positive relationships between staff and students and our approaches are applied consistently. Attendance is above national averages;
  • Leadership and governance were also recognised as “strong”. Leaders check the quality of education provided closely. They have a deep understanding of the barriers many pupils face and staff receive a comprehensive programme of development;
  • 6th Form was also “strong”. Students achieve highly and benefit from a curriculum that is consistently well taught. They are extremely well-prepared for their next steps and benefit from ambitious programmes linked to areas such as medicine, law, engineering and finance; and
  • Safeguarding was confirmed to be effective, reflecting a culture where students feel safe, supported, and well cared for.

The report was informed by very positive survey responses from staff, students and parents alike. It reflects that our sense of community and Christian values are central to all that we do.

We are incredibly proud that inspectors recognised the many ways that the school has evolved and strengthened since its last Ofsted report. The Governors and the school’s Leadership Team are clear that we are taking the right steps and will continue to provide transformational education in the heart of London.
