Joint Choir Performance at Westminster Abbey
On Wednesday 4 February, members of Westminster City School’s Chamber Choir joined students from neighbouring schools including Westminster School and The Grey Coat Hospital School for Girls, for a special joint performance at Westminster Abbey as part of this year’s Confirmation Service.
Ms Chan, Head of Music at Westminster City School commented on the occasion and the delivery of the performance, saying:
“The service brought together young musicians from across Westminster, creating a great experience for everyone. It is such a special service to be a part of and I’m so proud our selected chamber choir students were able to sing so beautifully in the choir pews of Westminster Abbey. It’s an experience they will never forget.”
Year 12 student Faridah described the atmosphere as unforgettable: “Hearing the music come together in such a beautiful place is amazing.”
Year 11 student Stephen added: “The best part for me was how our singing sounded. We are really lucky to get to sing at a place like this.”
Performing alongside other schools was an added bonus which made the experience for these students even more special.
Year 12 student Modasola commented the collaboration with the different schools, saying: “I met lots of new people from the different schools who were so welcoming of us. This definitely helped in creating a nice environment to be part of.”
Year 12 student Chiedozie added: “Just being in Westminster Abbey, looking up at the architecture and hearing our voices echo in that acoustic space was incredible.”
Well done to the Chamber Choir for their incredible performance at the Confirmation Service held at Westminster Abbey, which contributed to a moving and memorable occasion.
