Future Lawyers Explore AI and Ethics with Meta and Hogan Lovells

26 June 2026

On Wednesday 24 June, ten Year 12 students from Westminster City School’s Pathways to Law Programme were selected to attend the Junior Legal Fellowship Programme’s Legal Tech Day at the London offices of Hogan Lovells LLP.

At this event, students from schools across London explored the relationship between artificial intelligence and the legal profession. Throughout the day, students heard from legal professionals from Hogan Lovells and Meta who shared insights into their careers, discussed the opportunities and challenges AI presents for the future of law.

As part of the conference, students worked in mixed school teams to design an AI powered tutoring platform. The challenge required them to consider the technology behind the product and the legal, ethical and safeguarding responsibilities involved in developing AI tools for education.

The group of Westminster City School students who were in attendance at this event received outstanding feedback from organisers, who praised their thoughtful contributions, critical thinking and professionalism.

Following the event, Placida from the Junior Legal Fellowship Programme commented:

"We would love to see more Westminster City School students at future events. They consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of critical thinking and made valuable contributions throughout the day."

Year 12 student Misha shared her personal experience of the day. She said:

"Being in a room with like-minded students discussing the relationship between AI and law strengthened my understanding of how technology is shaping society and the legal profession. Hearing from lawyers at Meta gave me a completely different perspective on the future of legal careers."

She added:

"One of the highlights was the team challenge, where we designed an AI tutoring app and considered the ethical and legal issues surrounding it. Working with students from different schools and debating our ideas made the experience both challenging and enjoyable. My team was delighted to finish in first place."

Throughout the conference, students also learned about the diverse career journeys of legal professionals, including speakers who had previously worked in the public sector, the military and at the Bar before moving into international legal and technology roles.

The visit is linked to Westminster City School’s Pathways to Law Programme, which provides students with opportunities to engage directly with leading universities, legal professionals and employers.
