WCS Orchestra Performs with Smith Square Sinfonia
On Thursday morning, the Westminster City School Orchestra celebrated the successful completion of the 'Playing Together Project', delivered in partnership with the Smith Square Sinfonia.
Performing alongside members of the professional orchestra at Smith Square Hall, students presented a programme featuring works by Giacomo Puccini and Astor Piazzolla. The concert highlighted an important milestone in the project and gave students a special opportunity to perform in a professional concert venue alongside experienced orchestral musicians. Additionally, the performance reflected the progress students have made through a series of workshops, coaching sessions and rehearsals with the Smith Square Sinfonia. It also showed the value of learning directly from professional performers and experiencing the demands and rewards of live performance at a high level.
Reflecting on the occasion, Director of Music Performance, Mr Valles, said:
“It has been wonderful to see our students grow in confidence and musicianship through this partnership with the Smith Square Sinfonia. Performing alongside professional musicians in a venue such as Smith Square Hall is an inspiring experience, and the concert was a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. We look forward to continuing the collaboration throughout the year.”
The Playing Together Project will continue throughout the academic year, providing students with further opportunities to develop their ensemble skills, build confidence as performers and broaden their musical experiences.
Congratulations to all the students involved, who represented Westminster City School with professionalism, commitment and musical excellence.
