Business in Focus Challenge at Forvis Mazars

11 June 2026

On Tuesday 9 June, selected Year 10 students visited the offices of Forvis Mazars in Blackfriars to take part in a Business in Focus Challenge organised by IntoUniversity Kennington.

The event gave students the opportunity to be present in a professional working environment and apply their business knowledge through a music charity simulation. Students worked in teams and were given the task of planning and promoting a fundraising concert where they had to secure funding from trustees for the charity they represented.

Students took on a range of professional roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Brand Director, Finance Manager and Press Release Manager. Throughout the day, they developed their teamwork, leadership, communication and time-management skills while preparing and presenting their proposals.

Sophie, Secondary Focus Coordinator at IntoUniversity Kennington, praised the students’ contributions throughout the programme.

"Our team thoroughly enjoyed working with your students and giving them a taste of the professional world. We were very impressed by all of the students who attended the trip and would particularly like to recognise Thomas P, William, Trae and Hezekiah for their teamwork and contributions throughout the day.

"Nathan, Malek, Neil and Zion also did a fantastic job developing their business proposals and marketing strategies. There are definitely some future entrepreneurs in the group."

Volunteers from Forvis Mazars were also very impressed and highlighted the students’ creativity, enthusiasm and professionalism, particularly during their final presentations.

Year 10 student William reflected on the experience:

"I enjoyed the trip because it was a completely new experience for me to be in such a professional environment. The activities helped me understand what working life can be like. I enjoy Business Studies and hope to study it at A Level because I would like to start my own business and become an entrepreneur in the future."

Year 10 student, Eayon, also spoke about the lessons he took away from the day. He shared:

"Being in such a professional environment made me realise the importance of presentation and first impressions, even when it comes to looking smart and making adjustments such as having your blazer buttoned. It also made me think more about how I communicate with others and the importance of speaking clearly and professionally."

Thank you to the Forvis Mazars and the team at IntoUniversity Kennington for welcoming hosting our students for such an energetic simulation.
