Public Recognition at Jack Petchey Achievement Award Ceremony
Congratulations to Year 10 student Atticus, who was recognised at the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Award ceremony held at Kensington Town Hall.
Atticus received the award in recognition of his dedication to volunteering at his rowing club, where he supports younger athletes by coaching school and junior squads. His role includes teaching these young people who are interested in rowing or beginners, skills such as coxing, steering and rowing technique, helping them to develop their confidence and ability in the sport.
‘The Jack Petchey Achievement Award celebrates young people under the age of 25 who make a positive contribution to their school, club or community.’ The ceremony brought together award recipients from across London to recognise their efforts and commitment.

Reflecting on being a recipient of this important award, Atticus said:
“It was nice to win this award because it made me feel appreciated for the work I do. I also volunteer in school as an ambassador and I have been doing this since Year 7. This involves me touring the school with prospective Year 7 students and their parents. I also feel pretty privileged to be an ambassador for Westminster City School because I enjoy talking to parents about how great the school is for their son to attend.”
As well as his volunteering and giving back to the community, Atticus also pursues his own passion for rowing and is preparing for two upcoming competitions. He will take part in the “Schools' Head of the River Race”, which is “one of the premier junior rowing events in the country”, taking place on Friday 13 March 2026 along the Championship Course from Chiswick Bridge to Putney. He will also compete in the “WinTech Junior Sculling Head” at Dorney Lake on Monday 23 March.
Well done Atticus for your commitment to volunteering, leadership and sport. Westminster City is proud of the work that you continue to do, and we look forward to hearing more about your various achievements along the way. reflects the values of Westminster City School, and the school community congratulates him on this well-deserved recognition.
