Black History Month Speaker Series at WCS

10 October 2025

As part of our ongoing Black History Month celebrations, Westminster City School has been honoured to welcome an inspiring line-up of guest speakers, each sharing their individual journeys, insights, and experiences with our students.

We began our Black History Month Speaker Series with Nikki Adebiyi, founder of Bounce Black, a social enterprise and consultancy that equips individuals and organisations with the tools and resources to meet the wellbeing and workplace needs of Black professionals. Nikki started the morning with an informative assembly for our Key Stage 3 students before leading a more focused discussion with selected Sixth Formers. During her session, she spoke about her career journey, resilience, and the diverse career paths available to young people today.

This week, we were delighted to welcome Lordwin Anim, Director of UShine, an organisation that helps people identify and connect their talents and strengths to real-world challenges for meaningful impact and income. Lordwin led an engaging assembly with Key Stage 3 students and later ran a practical workshop with Sixth Formers on identifying and leveraging personal strengths for success.

Reflecting on his visit to Westminster City School, Lordwin shared:

“I just want to say thank you for entrusting me with the ears of your children. Not everybody has the right, privilege and permission to speak to the minds of the young, and I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to inspire those at Westminster City School. It is always a pleasure to do so, and I hope you were positively impacted by it.”

On Thursday 9 October, our most recent session featured Jonathan Boadu, Creative Activation Executive at ArtBot and founder of a tech start-up. Jonathan spoke to our Key Stage 3 students in assembly and delivered an engaging workshop for a small group of Year 12 students. His session focused on entrepreneurship, offering valuable insights into innovation, creativity, and the realities of building a business from the ground up.

Each of these sessions has provided our students with an incredible opportunity to hear from successful young professionals across a range of fields. More importantly, they have gained valuable knowledge and practical advice on how to steer their own paths and create their own success stories.
