Future Sounds Music Final 2026

27 March 2026

The Future Sounds Music Final 2026 recently took place at Bush Hall, bringing together a range of talented young musicians from schools across London.

Congratulations to Westminster City School’s band, Rezonance, who were among the standout performers on the night. Although they did not take home the top prize, their performance showed exactly why they had earned their place in the final.

Reflecting on the evening, Director of Music at Westminster City School, Mr Valles said:

"From the moment they stepped on stage, Rezonance delivered an energetic set that captivated the audience. Their tight instrumentation, stage presence and clear passion for music created a great atmosphere in the venue. It was a performance that left a strong impression on both the judges and the audience."

A very proud moment came when the band’s drummer, Micah (Year 10), was awarded the title ‘Star Performer of the Year 2026.’ Mr Valles noted that his precision, energy and stage presence stood out in a strong field of young performers.

Speaking after the event, Micah also reflected, saying:

"I wasn’t expecting it at all when my name was announced and it really caught me off guard.

"I think it’s because of my solo performance where I put a lot into it. I was using a lot of drum fills to build energy and signal changes in the music, and it all came together quite well in that moment. I felt really energised on stage, especially with everyone cheering me on and my sisters who were right at the front supporting me.

"Despite the fact that the competition is over, it’s great that we have so many musical opportunities at Westminster City School, and I’m looking forward to doing more."

Mr Valles added:

"While Rezonance didn’t secure the overall title this time, I’m incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment. They have real potential, and there is much more to come from them."

Well done to all members of Rezonance on your delivery of a superb performance.
