Year 12 Students Visit Cambridge to Prepare for Oxbridge Applications
A select group of Year 12 students from Westminster City School visited the University of Cambridge, Jesus College to take part in a tailored programme to support their aspirations of applying to Oxford or Cambridge.
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of informative and interactive sessions. These included an introduction to the University of Cambridge, a student panel, a tour of the campus, and the opportunity to have lunch in the college hall alongside current student ambassadors. The afternoon sessions focused on preparing competitive applications, including guidance on super-curricular activities and direct advice from an admissions tutor, followed by a Q&A session.
Year 12 student, Abdirahman spoke about his experience visiting Cambridge University, saying:
“One thing I enjoyed about the visit was the student panel. It was very helpful to hear answers to questions about applications and personal statements from people who were recently in the same position as us. I also found the Q&A with the admissions officer really useful, especially understanding what interviewers are looking for.”
“The visit was a lot better than I was expecting. The talks were engaging, with quizzes and reflections, and I can confidently say I know much more about the application process and super-curricular activities than I did before. I’m sure this will help me greatly when it’s my turn to apply.”
Thanks to Miss Clarke, Head of Chemistry and Oxbridge Coordinator for arranging this visit which forms part of Westminster City School’s ongoing commitment to supporting high aspirations and ensuring students are well-prepared to apply to Oxbridge.
