Congratulations to the Final Four of Polar Capital Aspire Scheme

27 November 2025

On Wednesday 26 November, four of Westminster City School’s Year 13 students reached the final stage of the prestigious Polar Capital Aspire Scheme (PCAS), attending interviews at Polar Capital as part of the process. The scheme offers four bursaries in total for students (two full and two partial), with full bursaries covering university tuition fees. ‘Two of these bursaries also provide a monthly stipend of up to £1,000 to support living costs’.

Alongside financial support, students gain mentorship from Polar Capital professionals, networking opportunities, summer internships, and the potential to undertake a graduate traineeship within the company.

Year 13 student Rikash, commented on the importance of the opportunity. He said:

“Being trusted by such a respected and successful company, Polar Capital, is incredible and means the world to me. The bursary and the chance to gain practical experience in finance will give me a huge head start as I aim for a top Russell Group university and a career in banking.

“I chose Westminster City School’s Sixth Form due to its good reputation, even though it meant a long daily commute, but for a school with as many opportunities and academic support, I knew it would be worth it. In fact, the school has exceeded my expectations.”

Rikash’s former secondary school is Lift Bexleyheath, formerly known as Bexleyheath Academy.

Ruth, who is also in Year 13, reflected on her experience, saying:

“PCAS is a fantastic opportunity to access university, not just financially, but also through the personal and professional guidance it provides. Making it to the final four was surreal and my family’s excitement made it even more special.

“The interview at Polar Capital’s office was quite daunting at first, but the interviewers were so kind and welcoming which made me relax eventually. The mentorship programme gives me a real chance to learn from people with industry experience, which will be invaluable as I navigate university life.”

Ruth plans to study Chemical Engineering and pursue a master’s degree. Her former secondary school is South Bank University Academy.

Giuliana, also in Year 13, added:

“I applied for PCAS for both the financial support and the mentoring opportunities. Meeting staff from Polar Capital across different areas during the interviews was eye opening. This bursary means I can fully focus on my studies while gaining insights into potential careers that I would like to pursue in the future. I’m hoping to study Geography and Economics and build a career in finance or sustainability.

“I chose Westminster City School’s Sixth Form because of the opportunities that it provides for students due to being in a central location in London. The teacher to student support is of high quality, as a result, I felt that it was the ideal place to help me excel in my A-levels.”

Giuliana’s former secondary school is Canary Wharf College Crossharbour.

Congratulations and well done to all four students, Rikash, Ruth, Giuliana, and Dorin for reaching the final stage of the Polar Capital Aspire Scheme. Click here to read more about the scheme that is available to all sixth form students joining Westminster City School.
