Real World Business Experience with PwC
Westminster City School was privileged to welcome professionals from PwC as part of their annual ‘One Firm One Day’ volunteering initiative, which sees thousands of PwC staff across the UK take part in fundraising and community-focused activities with charities and schools.
A large group of our Year 9 students participated in a dynamic business workshop led by 12 PwC volunteers. The session challenged students to develop a business plan centred on improving either sustainability or student welfare within the school. Working in teams, students then pitched their ideas in a ‘Dragon’s Den’-style presentation. The team with the strongest concept and most persuasive delivery was crowned the winner.
The workshop was proved to be a great introduction to business and gave these students the chance to build essential employability skills. Throughout the afternoon, they worked on their teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, while also learning how to present and justify their ideas with confidence.
We are extremely grateful to the PwC volunteers for their enthusiasm and commitment. Their guidance offered our students valuable insight into the world of business and the result of a well structured plan brought to life.
