Being a Sixth Form student at Westminster City School is about so much more than just acquiring knowledge. Studying here prepares young men and women for future study and employment, combining academic excellence with guidance on applying to university and helping students to pursue their passion. We interviewed a number of our students in Year 12 who have shared their experiences of what it is like to study at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form.

Why did you choose to enrol at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form?

I made the decision to enrol at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form because of the location and the fantastic atmosphere the school has. These two factors were appealing to me and helped to solidify my choice.

What are your future plans and aspirations?

After completing my A Levels at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form, my plan is to study data science / economics and politics at university. I have chosen this stream as I have always been intrigued by data and how it can be used to improve workflows. Additionally, due to the changing landscape of opportunity in the field of data and beyond, I believe it would be an amazing stream to enter into.

The universities that I am considering are the University of Cambridge, University College London, London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Bath, University of Bristol and University of St Andrews.

How did you find the transition from secondary school to Westminster City School’s Sixth Form?

The transition process was challenging at the beginning due to the change in content, particularly with Maths and Computer Science. Despite the fact that I had to adjust from GCSE content to A Level content, my teachers at Westminster City School's Sixth Form gave me various support which included questions to help me understand the topics being taught in lessons.

What are your impressions of the Sixth Form?

I enjoy the atmosphere here, it creates a good environment to learn and the cultural mix also creates a learning curve for people as it helps to instil good habits in our personalities, thus helping us to become better global citizens.

Furthermore, the Sixth Form fosters an environment that allows us to improve metacognition, boost self-awareness but also find key areas of self-improvement which helps us to become true independent learners.

Why would you recommend prospective students to join Westminster City School’s Sixth Form?

This school creates a good environment to learn, but it is not only about achieving high grades, it is also about our individual Sixth Form journey from the start to the end. The teachers at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form provide various ways of helping students to develop key employable skills which are essential now and in the future.

What makes Westminster City School’s Sixth Form special?

“Family”

Westminster City School’s Sixth Form is like a family where individuals are helpful, welcoming and accepting of eachother. You can nourish and build skills that extend far outside the classroom. Moreover, the teachers are approachable and their teaching styles allow for students’ overall development.
