PwC's 'New World, New Skills’ Careers Programme
On Monday 21 November, 42 Year 9 students at Westminster City School visited the London Bridge office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a global consultancy and financial services firm that employs over 284,000 people worldwide.
As part of the visit, students had the chance to work in small teams throughout the day to complete a series of business-related challenges with the help of PwC employees, including using their problem-solving skills to create and deliver a presentation.
The aim of the day was for students to develop key employability skills for their future including teamwork, creativity, listening and communication. Students also heard about the career journeys of the PwC volunteers they worked with, which gave them an invaluable insight into the different pathways they could take to work in the business services industry. The PwC staff were very impressed with the quality of each group’s presentation and an enjoyable day was had by all.
The session has helped students to understand the necessary skills needed to help them fulfill their potential, enabling them to make the right decisions in their academic career.
We look forward to arranging similar workplace visits for other KS3 students later in the year!
