The Great Outdoors
Westminster City School students are invited to join our new Outdoor Club, which offers weekend walks to encourage young people to keep active and become familiar with the natural environment.
Starting on Saturday 16 October, our Outdoor Club plans to initially offer walks through the greener spaces around London. Our capital city is one of the greenest in the world for its size, being home to over 8 million people but also more than 8 million trees and 14,000 species of wildlife. London’s parks, canals, reservoirs and riversides form an important network of spaces and public places, while research shows that spending time outdoors can improve both your physical and mental health.
Computer science teacher, Mr Myron, is running our new School’s Outdoor Club. He explains: “Our Outdoor Club will start with walks around areas of London but we plan to organise more adventurous hikes and outdoor activities as the year progresses and as our young people become more experienced.”
Our Outdoor Club will first meet on Saturday 16 October for a walk in London. For more information, please email Mr Myron or visit him in W205.
