Year 7 virtual open day

Welcome to our virtual visit From our Headteacher

Our virtual open day is designed to help you make a decision on Year 7 entry for your son in September 2022. A state-funded boys’ comprehensive, with a mixed sixth form, Westminster City School has a long history of providing academic excellence in the heart of London.

Our exceptional learning opportunities and strong pastoral support ensure all pupils reach their full potential - our GCSE results are consistently above national averages, and significantly above national averages for state-funded boys’ schools.

GCSE Results Day 2021 saw our GCSE pass rate rise to 85% across all qualifications, following a challenging period of study for our young people with the global pandemic disrupting learning. In addition, 35% of all our School's GCSEs were graded at 9 to 7 (or BTEC equivalent) which corresponds to the old-style top grades of A* and A.

Within our Sixth Form, we offer challenging and rewarding A Levels that can lead to exciting further study opportunities and a range of future careers. A Level Results Day 2021 showed a string of excellent grades for all our sixth formers, including ten students awarded all grades at A* or A. Across our year group, we saw 57% of our students awarded A* to B grades, and 85% awarded A* to C grades. In autumn 2021, over 90% of our outgoing Year 13 students started university, with almost 40% joining top Russell Group institutions.

Beyond the classroom, we provide an outstanding range of extra-curricular activities and events, plus guidance on future studies and careers. Our unique location, in the centre of London, helps us maintain links with nearby businesses and organisations that benefit our young people, whilst enabling a safe and easy commute for pupils and staff.

Our strong Christian ethos means we welcome pupils of all faiths and of none, while our diverse pupil body (with 14 out of 17 ethnic groups represented) reflects the modern city around us.

We look forward to welcoming you and your son, in person, to Westminster City School soon. Remember that applications for September 2022 should be received by 31 October 2021 - find out more on our admissions webpage.
