Buzzing about books

20 November 2019

Our Library has already received many new books this term, including the 2019 Booker Prize winners and this year’s Bookbuzz selections.

Mr Chapman, Library Manager, explains: “The Bookbuzz programme is run by the BookTrust, whereby we give all in Year 7 a free book from a list of exciting and age-appropriate new titles. I hope our pupils are enjoying their choices, and I encourage them to seek out the other books on the list too.

“In addition, congratulations must go to Bobby (9H) and Gasim (8S) for reading a very impressive 100 books from our Library. Both have been awarded a £10 book vouchers for their efforts.”

Although there was some controversy when the 2019 Booker Prize was announced in October (it was the first time the award has been shared since 1992, despite a rule change banning joint winners) there is no controversy about the quality of both winners. Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments and Bernardine Evaristo’s Girl, Woman, Other are now available to borrow from our Library.

As always, pupils and students from across our School are encouraged to explore our Library and borrow some books today! You can also keep up-to-date with our Library’s Book of the Week via our School’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
