Year 11 GCSE Geography Fieldwork Trip to Stratford

31 January 2023

On Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 January, Year 11 GCSE Geography students from Westminster City School visited Stratford in East London to conduct a practical fieldwork investigation in preparation for their GCSE exams this summer.

Students carried out a range of primary data collection techniques across three different sites to explore how the regeneration of Stratford for the 2012 Olympic Games has impacted the local area. This included environmental quality surveys, questionnaires, field sketches and pedestrian counts.

Miss Baulcomb, Subject Leader for Geography said:

“We were very impressed with the enthusiasm and maturity our boys showed when collecting their data in Stratford, particularly when conducting questionnaires and speaking to members of the public about their personal experiences of living and working in the area.

It was fantastic to see so many students pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and embracing the opportunity to apply their learning in a practical way outside of the classroom.”
