Art Trip to Piccadilly Circus
On Wednesday 16 November, as part of an on-going project with City Lions and The National Gallery, eight GCSE students at Westminster City School travelled to Piccadilly Circus to see their finished architectural designs for a greener, more eco-friendly West End, located on the Piccadilly Lights billboard.
The Piccadilly Lights is one of the UK's most iconic landmarks and a globally recognised advertising space, impossible to miss by the millions of people who visit Piccadilly Circus on a daily basis.
Speaking after the event, Andi in Year 10 commented saying:
"It is amazing that everyone in the whole of Piccadilly Circus are able to see our designs. It is such a great feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. Definitely a proud moment."
Faculty Leader of Art, Ms Chance expressed her gratitude adding:
"Thank you to City Lions for facilitating this incredible experience for our students. This is definitely an experience that they will remember for life."
"If you would like to see the designs that are up on the Piccadilly Lights or any of the interviews with our students, they will be live on the City Lions website shortly and the link will be posted in an upcoming school newsletter."
As a school that is based in the heart of London, students at Westminster City School are able to participate in opportunities exculsive to schools such as ours. "Westminster City Lions is a programme designed to get more of Westminster’s young people, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, interested in the creative industries."
