Celebration Evening 2018
In July, we assembled in the grounds of Westminster Abbey, to celebrate the achievements of our School, our pupils and students, and our staff during the past year.
We were delighted that so many Old Boys and friends of our School were able to join us. It was a great opportunity to showcase what pupils and students have achieved during the academic year, as well as allow the musical talents of so many to be expressed in front of a large audience.
The fact that we are able to celebrate so many successes, and to do so with families and friends of our School, is special. It is also wonderful to be able to use our connections to host this in such amazing surroundings. It truly was a fantastic spectacle and my thanks go to all on my leadership group, and beyond, for playing their parts in ensuring this event went so smoothly.
The Very Revd. Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminster, gave out the prizes and addressed us focusing on the idea of never being afraid. He very much enjoyed the event and shared his warm congratulations on the journey that our School is on.
My address focused on the idea that the ethos, history and culture of our School provide great strength and are a source of optimism in times of change. There have been many changes this year, both in school and in wider society. Curricula has changed radically and there has been change in our School’s leadership. This is not easy but the willingness of everyone to pull together is vital and also very apparent at Westminster City. A school, like ours, has been around for a long period of time because it has been true to its motto – ‘Unitate Fortior’ – and always found strength in unity.
I would like to reiterate my thanks to the Dean and Chapter of Westminster for granting us permission to hold our Celebration of Achievement Evening in the beautiful grounds of Westminster Abbey.
