Westminster City School Rededication Service

26 September 2022

On Friday 23 September, staff and students ended the week with their annual rededication service at St Margaret's Church, which reminded all in attendance of the importance of renewing their sense of mission at the beginning of every year.

Westminster Abbey reopened to the public from Tuesday 20 September, just in time for Westminster City School's annual rededication service at St Margaret’s Church. The theme was ‘A Fresh Start’ which represented the commitment made by the entire school community at Palace Street to give of their best to work and to each other.

The Westminster City School choir and orchestra performed beautifully which enhanced the occasion, thus making it a really special start to the School's new year.

The fact that just a week before, Westminster Abbey had been host to leaders from across the world as we all paid our last respects to Queen Elizabeth II was a reminder of how privileged students and staff at Westminster City School are to live and work at the centre of our national life.

The reading for the service was from Philippians 3:9-14 which reads:

“I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize”.

Whatever has happened in the past, both good and bad, we are committed to focussing on the present as we look to be excellent in both our work and in our life together.
