Congratulations to our Year 8 cricket team - winners of Westminster Schools Indoor Cricket competition!

Taking place last week, our Year 8 team did not lose a single game in the tournament, displaying strong performances and support towards each other, even when facing difficult periods of play.

Mr Bradley, who accompanied our team, explained: “We started very strongly against Westminster Academy, with Omar taking two wickets in his first three bowls. This momentum carried on with great teamwork and communication in the field, getting the ball to stump on several occasions and strengthening our grip in this opening game. Jo-Marri’s consistent batting then ensured a win.

“We turned our attention to Marylebone Boys School for our next two fixtures and first faced their ‘A’ team. This was our closest game of the afternoon, with nerves showing and our bowling temporarily slumping, giving away several runs for wide balls. However, our team showed great comradery and support, working together to get our opponents out for 54 runs. Our batters then shone, securing the runs needed for a win. Full of confidence, we went into the next game and proved too much for Marylebone’s ‘B’ team.”

While Mr Bradley praised the entire team for their conduct and success at the competition, his stand-our performers were Otis with his bowling and Jo-Marri with his batting.

All at Westminster City School are bowled over by this good news - well done to all members of our Year 8 cricket team!
