Our Year 7 pupils have been producing some powerful pieces of poetry. Now a large number will see that work in print, with a book including their poetry set to be published.
Earlier this academic year, in PSHCE lessons, our Key Stage 3 pupils explored and reflected up on some challenging and contemporary topics like bullying, racism, equality and equity. Using the prompt ‘imagine', they produced inspiring and interesting pieces of poetry which their teacher, Ms Hutton, then entered into The Young Writer ‘Imagine’ Competition.
Ms Hutton explains: “The Young Writers ‘Imagine’ Competition invited 11 to 18 year-olds to enter their work and received more than 9,000 responses from across the UK. So I’m really proud to say that a fantastic 29 of our pupils had their poem chosen for publication in the next Young Writers book.
“A massive congratulations to our pupils for their thought-provoking, creative pieces! Words are power, and you are harnessing yours in the right way - well done!”
The Young Writers book is due to be published before the end of term and a link to purchase a copy will be shared shortly.
