Baptism by the Bishop
A group of Westminster City School pupils have been baptised and confirmed at Westminster Abbey by the Bishop of London.
Last Friday, five of our Year 7 pupils (pictured with our School Chaplain, Rev Taylor) braved the torrential rain to be baptised in Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey. Then, along with seven others from their year group, these pupils were confirmed at Westminster Abbey on Monday night. This service, led by the Bishop of London, Rt Revd Sarah Mulally, also included a reading from the Old Testament, given by Westminster City School pupil, Michael A.
Rev Taylor said: “During the service, the Bishop of London spoke about God, calling each one of us by name to fulfil the role He has given us to love and serve our community.
“The service was originally organised for February but had to be postponed due to pandemic restrictions. These restrictions meant that our young people had to stand patiently while the Bishop worked her way around the Abbey, praying for all those from Westminster Cathedral School and Greycoat Hospital School, before their turn arrived.”
Congratulations to Michael A, Obinna C, Izaiah H, Saimonas J, Kalim K, Christian M, Emmanuel O, Adam RK, Joshua R, Ezana S, and Cameron T for taking part in this baptism and confirmation.
Rev Taylor added: “All our Year 7 pupils represented our School well and I am very proud of them for taking this step of faith during their time at Westminster City School.”
