Welcome to 2019-20 academic year
Westminster City School started an exciting new academic year this week, with what is certain to be our largest cohort. We now have well over 800 pupils and students, with links to more than 100 different cultures, studying with us.
Our new Year 7 spent their first day with us last Tuesday and have been settling in well, learning their way around and meeting their new teachers. In the meantime, our new Year 12 students spent Tuesday afternoon undertaking team building exercises on Hyde Park, and we welcome all our sixth formers back on Monday.
Our week ended with a spiritually uplifting Re-dedication Service at nearby St Margaret's Church, where Winston Churchill was married. We were delighted to welcome the Reverend Prebendary Rose Hudson-Wilkin (Chaplain to the Speaker of the House and Commons and soon to be Bishop of Dover) who led a powerful reflection on our School values of Wisdom, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence. She praised our “amazing city” and “amazing school”, and her inspiring talk encouraged our pupils and teachers “to simply be your best at all times”. Wise words on which to end our first week of a new academic year.
