Our fascinated physicist

19 July 2021

Jason plans to read physics at Imperial College London. He has been at Westminster City School since Year 7 and is completing A Levels in Maths, Physics, and Economics. Jason lives in Westminster.

“As I first joined Westminster City School in Year 7, I was already familiar with the teachers and the school, so it was an easy decision to stay and undertake my A Levels in our Sixth Form.

“Westminster City School staff have supported my aspirations and goals. During my time in our Sixth Form, teachers helped me successfully apply to programmes, such as Realising Opportunities and Sutton Trust, which allowed me to prepare for future university study and gave me an insight to future university life. However, my best memory of the last two years will be our trip to look around the University of Oxford.

“I’ve applied to Imperial College London as they offer a world-class education and have exceptional facilities that will enable me to develop my understanding of the truths about the laws of physics that oversee the world around us. I want to study physics because I believe that there are many things that we have yet to learn and discover, and questions still to answered about the mechanisms of the known universe.”

A Russell Group university, Imperial College London is ranked eleventh globally by the 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and third in Europe and in the UK in their 2019 European universities ranking. It was ranked eighth worldwide by the 2021 QS World University Ranking, as well as fourth in Europe, and first in London. Notable alumni and academics include 14 Prize Nobel laureates, three Fields Medalists, two Breakthrough Prize winners, one Turing Award winner, 74 Fellows of the Royal Society, 87 Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and 85 Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

The majority of our Year 13 have applied to start university in autumn 2021, receiving offers across a range of courses and institutions, both in and out of London. We have been so inspired by the hard work of our sixth formers during this unprecedented time in modern history and have been featuring many of them on our website, talking about their exciting journey towards university.
