Ash Wednesday Service
Westminster City School has recorded a socially distant Ash Wednesday and Lent term service service for all members of our diverse and inclusive community.
A short film of our School’s Ash Wednesday and Lent term service can be viewed on our Vimeo channel. Lent term would normally see our School community join together at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, but this is sadly not possible due to lockdown restrictions. However, our socially distant recording enables all within our community to join in from the comfort of their home.
Rev Taylor, our School Chaplain, explains: “Ash Wednesday is a day of reflection and repentance, a 'bringing things back into line' as we move into Lent - itself a time of preparation for the Christian celebration of Easter. Whether you usually celebrate Lent or not, it is always good to take space to reflect on where we are and what we would like to change. I hope that our Ash Wednesday and Lent term service provides you and your family with some of that space.
“We are very grateful to Rev Canon Anthony Ball, of St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, for allowing us to record in that beautiful building and for welcoming us so warmly. I would also like to thank the pupils and students who contributed with their readings, prayers and music.
“May God be with you and all those you love through the coming Lent term.”
