On the run
A number of Westminster City School pupils ran in the English Schools Cross Country Championship last week.
Taking place on Wormwood Scrubs, one of the largest areas of common in London, the event involved 14 of our pupils. Ross, from Year 10, was our School’s best placed finisher, coming in 32nd in the intermediate boys event. In addition, our first runner home, in the Junior Boys race, was Tyler (Year 9), while our first runner home in the Year 7 race was David.
Mr Huxley, Head of PE at our School, said: “It was a perfect day for running, as it was dry, cool and sunny. However, the inclement weather, leading up to the event, meant the course was extremely muddy and slippery underfoot. These are typical cross country conditions and I am pleased to report that our pupils coped well. Well done to all who took part!”
The English Schools' Athletics Championships are annual national athletics competitions organised by the English Schools' Athletic Association. Events are aimed at young people in England, aged 12 to 18, and cover track and field, cross country and race walking.
