Year 12 Business and Enterprise Events with UrbanPlan
Westminster City School’s Business Studies Department hosted an inspiring series of Business and Enterprise events for our Year 12 Business Studies students, delivered in partnership with facilitators from UrbanPlan. These included an intensive two-day Leadership Bootcamp, A leadership Workshop and a Celebration Event that gave students valuable insight into the world of business and enterprise.
The Leadership Bootcamp was a great opportunity for students to step into the shoes of entrepreneurs, explore key aspects of urban regeneration, and develop core leadership and business skills through interactive tasks and team pitches. Hamza, the guest speaker for the bootcamp, was full of praise for our students, saying:
“The presentations from Westminster City School students were some of the best I've seen. I was not expecting that level of detail during the pitches. Their ideas were well-thought out, genuinely exciting and novel. Congratulations.”
Miss Adams, Business Studies Teacher at Westminster City School, was also impressed:
"A huge well done to the Year 12 students who recently participated in the Unloc two-day bootcamp. Firstly, they were a great group who showed character, initiative and weren't afraid to offer their opinions. I was really impressed by their ability to formulate creative ideas and articulate them during the pitches. Everyone got stuck in and delivered some of the best business pitches I've had the pleasure of witnessing. Some truly wonderful ideas and hard work on display."
A few days later, winners who participated in a previous session delivered by UrbanPlan were invited to their Celebration Event held at the Crowne Plaza London Docklands hotel. At the event, they took part in three dynamic, interactive workshops designed to further build their enterprise skills. Students also had the opportunity to network with professionals from the industry and enjoyed a guided tour of City Hall, an inspiring setting for young people with ambitions in business and public leadership.
The event series was a fantastic chance for students to apply their classroom learning from their Business Studies lesson to real-world scenarios, enhance their confidence, and gain valuable insight into the business world. We look forward to continuing our work with UrbanPlan to provide students with these meaningful and important experiences.
