WCS Alumni Success Stories – Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Wes Streeting

20 April 2023

Over the past few weeks we have seen the achievements and heart warming comments in the media of Westminster City School alumni Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, English professional footballer who plays for Charlton Athletic on loan from Crystal Palace, and Wes Streeting, the Labour MP for Ilford North and Shadow Secretary of State for Health & Social Care.

Congratulations to Jesurun on his nomination for EFL Young Player of the Season Awards which recognise the best young talent in the League. The ceremony is due to take place on Sunday 23 April at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane where the winner will be announced.

Additionally, we are proud and pleased to know that Wes Streeting’s book, ‘A memoir of growing up and getting on’ will be released on Monday 29 June. The memoir has a particular focus on his childhood growing up on a council estate in Stepney, East London and the struggles he had to overcome as a teenager.

On behalf of all at Westminster City School, we send our best wishes to Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Wes Streeting who are exceptional examples of what it means overcome challenging times to reach your full potential; two individuals who continue to remain a ‘beacon of excellence’ for the Westminster City School community and beyond.
