WCS Shoebox Appeals for Charitable Causes

1 December 2023

As we welcome the month of December, Westminster City School will be raising funds and organising donations for  two charitable causes.

The first charity is The Passage (https://passage.org.uk/) which is an organisation local to the school and supports the community of homeless that are around Victoria Street and whom are students pass by each day. We are looking both to raise funds for their work but also collect donations of key items through our shoebox appeal. This appeal will see students collect items in a shoebox and then we will ensure delivery of items to The Passage. Specifically, we are looking for donations of specific clothing, toiletries and canned food. Please see below a list of preferred items:

The second charitable cause is the Nktumkumso School in Ghana. The school is located in a rural part of the Ashanti Region in Ghana at Sekyere East District and is a suburb of Effiduase. It is run by the Ghanaian Presbyterian Church and we have made this connection through the Amoah Family whose three sons (Chris, Raymond and Richmond) attended WCS just over 10 years ago.

Sadly, Richmond Amoah who was carving a fantastic career in the business world and had spoken with students in our 6th Form passed in May 2023 and we are looking to honour his life by working with the school as part of a legacy project. We are looking to raise at least 1000 pounds to cover the cost of 30 new mattresses so students who reside at the school during the week can do so in greater comfort and new sets of textbooks. In addition, as part of our shoebox appeal we are looking to collect stationary items for the school to use. The list of items can be found below:
