Sixth formers have been networking with some of the UK’s biggest companies at a high profile careers event.
Twelve students on our innovative Pathway to Finance attended the London Careers Expo, which helps young people think about, and plan for, their future. Representatives from banking, telecommunications, consulting and engineering were present, giving our sixth formers a chance to build professional relationships and develop their networking skills.
Mr Taufik, Subject Leader for Economics at Westminster City School, explains: “Our students were tasked with speaking to employees from at least three different companies, that they had previously researched. In advance of the event, they had to think about the information they wanted to find out and prepare the questions they would ask. It was a great opportunity for them to discover more about different career opportunities.”
The students that attended are all following our School’s innovative Pathway to Finance. Our four available pathways help sixth formers learn more about a particular industry and discover if they would enjoy a career in that field. Our Pathway to Finance, which Mr Taufik leads, also includes opportunities to hear speakers from the financial industry and to receive individual mentoring from economics and finance students at Russell Group universities.
Attending the annual London Careers Expo, and available to speak to our sixth formers, were representatives from companies like Vodafone, Goldman Sachs, Siemens and Unilever.
