Year 12 students have been exploring future university and apprenticeship options at one of London’s biggest education events.
Visiting Arsenal Football Club for last week’s spring fair, our sixth formers met with over 100 different exhibitors and heard from speakers on topics like student finance, applying through UCAS and university life. Our students were able to speak individually with staff from universities across the UK, including prestigious Russell Group institutions like Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial College London, and learn more about available degree programmes.
In addition, representatives from many of the UK’s biggest apprenticeship providers and local colleges were present. They were able to offer further advice and guidance on finding and applying for apprenticeships.
Attending this event helped our current Year 12 learn more, and think further, about their future plans. Such support and guidance will continue throughout their time in our Sixth Form, since our staff provide extensive advice and guidance on higher education options and careers. Forthcoming planned activities include talks in school by university representatives, help with university applications, and mock interviews.
This year, over 90% of our current Year 13 have applied to university for autumn 2020. Our sixth formers have made applications to universities within and outside of London, including 21 of the prestigious 24 Russell Group institutions. We are featuring many of our sixth formers, talking about their exciting journey towards university, on our website and social media channels.
