Outside the Classroom
We offer a vast array of opportunities for pupils both in and out of lessons including a comprehensive programme of extra-curricular activities which take place at lunchtime or after school. Westminster City School has a strong sporting tradition with activities run in all sports at all levels. Performing arts is another area in which the school is extremely successful and activities are offered in drama, dance, music and art. Through the year pupils perform in productions within the school and with external drama projects.
There are lunchtime clubs offering homework, art, chess, ICT, music, environmental education and a debating society. We have a flourishing cadet force and a number of boys have taken part in camps and outdoor activities, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
Westminster City is proud of its tradition of offering pupils a full programme of educational trips that enhance and support the curriculum. Trips range from local visits to places further afield of historical, geographical, literary, religious or scientific interest. There is an exchange visit to Japan as well as field trips at home and abroad. Whether the trip is a morning visit to the Tate Modern or a week spent in New York, whether it involves an army assault course or creating a virtual newspaper at the Guardian Newsrooms, our pupils get enjoyment and enrichment from these activities. The school is rigorous in maintaining its inclusive ethos and no pupil is denied participation on trips because of financial hardship.
We have an enormous range of school clubs available at Westminster City School, the sports hall opens up early in the morning for basketball practice, there are numerous lunchtime clubs and plenty of after school activites to help pupils develop their talents and abilities to the full.
