Education and Guidance in Careers
Careers Education and Guidance is provided from Year 9, both in
and out of the classroom, including advice about subject options
for Years 10 and 11 and Higher Education. At this time students are
introduced to research skills, including access to a comprehensive
computer programme, that help them to explore a variety of different
career options. Students also take part in talks given by visiting
speakers, attend careers exhibitions and have the opportunity to
discuss prospective future careers with employers.
All students are kept fully informed of the choices available at
post-16 and are offered a personal interview with a careers officer
from the City of Westminster Careers Service.
Connexions, an advice and guidance service for students aged 13 – 19,
is also available. The service offers personal advisors to support
students in the transition to work and adult life.
The school has a comprehensive work experience programme and every
student has the opportunity of a work placement at the end of Year
10, and during Years 12 and 13. Westminster City School works closely
with business and industry as part of the local Education Business
Partnership. |
