Westminster City – the School
The school provides a rich, balanced and rigorous education, aspiring
to standards of excellence at all levels, so that all students may
achieve their full potential and take a valuable and positive place
as adults within society.
This is achieved through a common sense of
purpose among all members of our school community – Governors,
teaching and support staff, students and parents – working together.
The School and the Individual
At Westminster City opportunities are provided for each student to
develop his talents and every attention is given to each boy’s
career within, and progress through, the school.
We encourage every student to achieve high standards and to develop
an enthusiastic problem solving approach to their work so that they
can feel confident with their academic and social skills, inside and
outside school.
The School and the Parent
Close co-operation between parents and the school is essential if
students are to gain the maximum benefit from school life. We know
that your involvement is important and therefore we have developed
strong links between home and school. We keep in contact with parents
through regular newsletters, which are also available on the school
website and we welcome parents to all major functions during the year
including parents’ evenings, academic review days, celebration
evening, carol service and sports fixtures.
Westminster City School Association: as parents,
you have automatic membership to our strong and flourishing Association,
which organises a wide range of activities throughout the academic
year, many of which are intended to raise money in aid of the school
to support the education of all students. The functions run by the
Association afford excellent opportunities for the informal meeting
of parents, governors, staff, students and Old Westminster Citizens.
Your involvement, however big or small, is integral to the ongoing
success of the Association.
The Old Westminster Citizens’ Association: this flourishing
former students’ association was founded formally in 1908. The
Association was established to provide sporting and social activities
for former students at the school and continues to be a focus of interest
to ‘old boys’ and staff.
The Old Westminster Citizens’ Association has very close links
with the school and through its trust fund provides finance to support
music and small projects. It is also a means of maintaining friendships
formed at the school and maintaining contact with the school itself.
