Pupil invited to Downing Street
6 March 2012
Last Year I enrolled on a program called Mosaic. The purpose of the programme was to improve the self-esteem and confidence of the participants and to help them recognise their strengths.
On Tuesday 6 March I represented WSC at a function in 10 Downing Street. I met Samantha Cameron and Princess Badiya of Jordan and many other important people who were attending the event.
I was really impressed with 10 Downing Street. There was this long corridor leading to a flight of stairs. As you climbed the stairs there were iconic pictures of all the prime ministers who have held office. It was an impressive sight.
When I went into the meeting room I felt very excited as I saw Samantha Cameron. I shook her hand and she introduced me to Princess Badiya who was very nice to me and made a big contribution to the Mosaic programme.
I had to give a speech and although I was nervous I was excited too. I felt calm when I was speaking as it seemed to come naturally to me. I thanked all the people who help on the programme and they were very grateful to me.
How many 16 year olds could stand on the same platform as Samantha Cameron before 120 delegates and deliver a speech like I did? That is what Princess Badiya said when I had finished speaking. If someone like me can do this then there is no reason why you can’t either. Join Mosaic and find out what you are capable of!
