Sixth Form University Bursaries
The bursaries are granted by John Rittenhouse, Chief Executive of EDF Trading, whose head office is opposite the school in Cardinal Place. The company has established this scholarship to support local students through university. Each student to gain the award will receive an annual bursary for the duration of their three or four year university course. The bursary is granted to students who can demonstrate a number of criteria, namely: sustaining excellent academic progress during their school career; making a notable contribution to the life of the school and the community; being a positive role model for younger pupils and taking on ambassorial duties for the school; having a consistently high attendance and punctualty record and committing to uphold the rules, expectations and religous ethos of the school in appearance, conduct and attitude to learning.
This years recipients are: Firdus Qail: Reading Theoretical Physics at Kings College London. Minhal Mahmood: Reading Mechanical Engineering at London South Bank University. Mohammed Faruq: Reading Computer Engineering at Queen Mary University London. Afzal Hussein: Reading Economics & Finance at Queen Mary University London.
These students have developed into remarkable young men, they have been role models in school and continue to support the school whenever they can. Their achievements are exceptional and they are very worthy winners of the Rittenhouse EDF bursary.
