Support & Opportunity

    Support

Westminster City School’s Sixth Form is friendly, diverse, welcoming and caring. Everybody knows each other and it has a family like atmosphere. Our internal and external students quickly make strong friendships, which they develop through participating in our extra-curricular activities, including netball, cadets, choir, debating, the Model UN, trips and more.

Our dedicated Sixth Form team understand the importance of your education. It is an action-packed two years which you will enjoy, but at times you may need some support. Our students support each other through their studies and our experienced and approachable Sixth Form team will support and guide you in combination with your subject teachers and form tutors.

    Opportunity

We are very proud of the opportunities that our Sixth Form offers. In a typical academic year, we run trips to New York, Paris and Thorpe Park. You can also participate in our array of extra-curricular activities, or embrace one of our many leadership opportunities as Head Boy, Head Girl, a Prefect, or a Subject Ambassador. Our Sixth Formers also mentor younger pupils,
or simply lead younger students by example.

Upon your completion of Sixth Form, our supportive atmosphere and extra-curricular activities will enable you to grow into confident, articulate and independent young people.

As you think about entering the Sixth Form you will already have developed a strong sense of what you want to achieve both academically and personally. In joining us at Westminster City School Sixth Form, you can be confident that you will be surrounded by a friendly pastoral team who wish to see you succeed and will support you in each step you take through the next two years.

For every student who enters our Sixth Form, we recognise the need to balance support for each individual alongside building their confidence, resilience and independence in preparation for college, university or work. To support students in their progress through the Sixth Form, they are attached to a form group for two years with a dedicated Form Tutor.

The school has helped me in incredible ways by offering chances to work with big global companies based in London...

Tutors monitor the academic progress of Westminster’s Sixth Form students through regular one-to-one mentoring sessions and offer advice and support when necessary. They guide students through the process of applying for college courses, university places, gap years and employment. Regular communication with home continues to be an important way in which we seek to ensure that all students are well supported during their time at our Westminster school.

The Westminster City School Sixth Form occupies the top floor of the Kings building, a recently built modern addition to the school. It houses a supervised study suite that is well equipped with iMac computers, has wireless internet access and provides an area of academic focus for our students. It is an ordered and friendly environment where students feel confident and relaxed, and above all it is an environment where students feel inspired to learn and thrive.

We are based in the heart of Westminster and have strong and established links with many of the international companies, organisations and government offices that surround us.

These links with the business community provide our students with mentoring support, CV and interviewing skills, work experience and internships. This insight into the corporate world is invaluable in equipping our students with a skill-set to help them succeed at school, with the transition to university, and in the working world.

The school’s prime SW1 location is only a short walk from Victoria Station, Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, St James’s Park and Buckingham Palace, and places our students in the centre of one of the most vibrant, diverse and exciting parts of London.

As the school is in the middle of London, it has provided us with a wide range of opportunities from top companies to support us for the future.
